Iraqi Elections
As the Iraqi elections are just hours away I find it awesome the power that the Iraqi people hold, not only for their own future but for America's future as well. Each person in Iraq gets to vote and is willing to go out stand in line for many hours, actually risking their lives. Most likely there will be many that die. But if Afghanistan is any indication of their resolve, people will vote. Would P.Diddy be willing to stand in line and risk dying just to vote?
When the Iraqi people come out and vote they will be sending a loud message to terrorist, the mainstream media, and to Ted Kennedy that they fully embrace and are willing do die for democracy. Many liberals and the media will then look like nothing more than pessimist trying to cast the war effort in a negative light (although the Iraqi vote is not need to see Ted Kennedy this way, he does a pretty good job himself). February 2nd President Bush will give his State of the Union address and will be able to speak as strong leader who has just freed millions and has destroyed much of the strength and resolve of terrorism. Much of the democratic party (and the mainstream media) will look as though they were undermining the war.
If the Iraqi people do not vote or allow themselves to be intimidated by terrorist liberals will see it as a win (that the war has failed). They will then be unrelenting "I told you so." Ted Kennedy will call for turning over Iraq to the insurgents (oh wait he did that this week.)
Will the mainstream media cover a successful election in the same manner that they covered the election in Afghanistan? Probably. Somehow they will find the upcoming Michael Jackson trial more newsworthy than the Iraqi elections.
