Fetus vs. Baby

By now most people have heard or read about the horrible murder that took place in Kansas in which Bobbie Jo Stinnett, who was pregnant at the time, was murdered. Bobbi Joe's situation is different in that her baby was cut from her womb, and taken from her by the perpetrators. I think most people would agree that this is a gruesome crime, and that is of most urgency to help the baby, but this is not the reason for this post. I wanted to comment on how unwilling the media was to call the child a baby instead of a fetus. There are so many ironic wordings that were reported it is hard to find a place to start. First of all, when I first heard about this I assumed that the baby was indeed alive, and I assume this was the case for the majority of the media. For the first few hours the media insisted on calling the baby a fetus. Now the usual argument is that a baby must be completely free form the mother before it becomes a life after a full nine months in the womb. The media is caught in a difficult situation because the baby hasn't been in the womb for nine months, and thus isn't a complete human. It is outside the body but isn't capable of life, so it must therefore be a fetus... but it must be breathing....but not yet a baby, ..... so let's call it a "live fetus." Wow, this is quite amazing. A live fetus. A fetus that is alive. The mere uttering of this phrase at the NSSSSatonal organization of women Out of the Womb (NOW) would be cause for immediately expulsion. I'm sure a gasp was released when this was heard on TV by all the high ups in NOW, NARAL, Planned Parenthood, ACLU, and the DNC. Once again the media has put politics, and their deep belief that a baby up until birth lacks the capacity for life. It is not alive until minutes after birth. The media insists on devaluing the baby or even the fetus. This presents another insight into the character of the media. The criminal(s) who murdered this poor woman, indeed found enough value to steal the baby form the woman. Even though they did not value the life of the woman, they still recognized that there was a life inside of her. They knew that if they cut into this womb they would not find a glob of tissue waiting for an OB/BYN to give the tissue life, they knew they would find a baby that was indeed ALIVE. The media still seemed more out of touch with this issue than the killers who took the life of the mother. Now, yet another interesting point that has yet to be brought up is what crimes the killers are guilty of. Murder... yes. Kidnapping....???. I would be willing to bet NOW, NARAL, and Planned Parenthood are mobilizing right now trying to find an explanation for why the baby should not be covered under current kidnapping laws. Remember their response to the Unborn Victims of Violence Act (Laci-Conner Law). Planned Parenthood cannot except a mother that made the unselfish "choice" to keep a child. They cannot except that a fetus is anything more than an extension of the mothers tissue. It will me interesting to see what sort of press release they come up with.

I didn't even think about the kidnapping laws aspect of this. Only those weirdos would consider a child outside the womb to still be a fetal extension of the (deceased) mother. It's too bad that the killer wasn't captured in Texas.
